Peterborough Central: 'From Beginner to Advanced Crafter' Course Has Started
We are very excited to announce that, following the events at Peterborough Cathedral, we started our 'Peterborough Central' 'From Beginner to Advanced Crafter' course yesterday, starting with making one of our signature birdhouses! The course will run weekly on a Monday from 11.00 -13.00, initially at The Peterborough Central Library, Broadway, Peterborough PE1 1RX with the last session before Christmas being on 13th December. Our first session in the New Year will be on Monday 10th January. We hope to move to the Peterborough Mini Vine when it reopens in the New Year - 62 Bridge St, Peterborough PE1 1EH....
Our Tutor Group has been busy over the summer
continuing to extend their skills making a variety of boxes and greeting cards and learning new colouring techniques. The 3D 'Hissing Sid' card is the Tutors' favourite.
As it Happens Craft4Smiles C.I.C. Courses and Activities
As it Happens Craft4Smiles C.I.C. Courses and Activities: The Advanced Crafter Group met again yesterday. Members extended their skills in pergamano having started with the Groovi system last week A Groovi template provides the outline . To complete the piece, the image and the backgrounds are coloured and careful work is done to emboss (stretch) the coloured area to produce veining and/or white areas. (See image). This week's lesson took the group closer to the original peramano, with a chosen image being traced over with fine white ink/pencil and then embossed. Pin pricks and cutting and snipping with pergamano scissors complete the piece to produce intricate lace effects.

Yesterday - 24.11.20 - the Advanced Crafter Group met for the first of 2 lessons on pergamano - lace-like work on parchment - photos to be posted next week. All were new to crafting when they joined but are now able to produce really good quality cards, framed pictures and a range of other items to their own designs - see the L Collection and Bessie Collections in our Gallery.
Yesterday's lesson was spent the session on pergamano - the art of embellishing and decorating parchment paper or vellum paper through embossing, perforating, stippling, cutting and colouring good quality parchment or vellum.The group will continue with pergamano next week - photos of members's work will be posted in the blog.
