Arts and Crafts and Mental and Physical Wellbeing
Craft4Smiles C.I.C. is founded on the premise that arts and crafts have a major role to play in maintaining and improving mental and physical wellbeing and that this type of activity is helpful in both preventing the onset of a mental health problem and supporting recovery. Our aim is to ensure that as many people as possible have access to crafting activities.
The Five Ways to Wellbeing
Through crafting, we aim to help participants in our courses to maintain and improve their wellbeing, and ultimately, if they so wish, to take a more active role in the communities in which they live and work as well as in the development and running of the organization. We base our approach on the 5 Ways to Wellbeing.
Support for Mental Health and Wellbeing in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Councils and NHS have come together to work with local organizations to produce a directory of the mental health support and services available for children, young people and adults of all ages living in the area. To access the information, please visit Keep Your Head. The aim is not only to support people if they are experiencing a mental health problem, but to help to prevent a problem starting in the first place.
Craft4Smiles C.I.C. is working collaboratively with some of the organizations listed to promote crafting as one way of maintaining and improving mental health and wellbeing across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
